Achievements Celebrated at Maple Hayes Dyslexia School Prize Giving Day

The annual Prize Giving Day was filled with celebration at Maple Hayes Dyslexia School this year.

Pupils from all year groups were recognised and applauded for their outstanding accomplishments at the event which is held on the school grounds.

The awards spanned a wide range of categories, including sports, including horse riding, cross country running, swimming, football, gymnastics, and overall sportsmanship.

On the academic front, accolades were presented in subjects such as numeracy, maths, IT, science, and history. Additionally, students received prestigious awards like the Chairman's Cup for social accomplishment, the Pursglove Shield for Endeavour, the Lightbown Cup for Progress in Literacy, the Ben Green Junior Cup for Academic Progress, and the highly coveted Principal's Cup.

Parents were invited along to see firsthand the remarkable progress their children had made throughout the year. It was also a time to bid farewell and wish the Year 11 students success in their future endeavours. They were also able to use the occasion to explore the school, visit classrooms and engage with teachers.

The event served as a fundraiser for Pets As Therapy, a national charity that enhances the health and wellbeing of thousands of people and communities by striving to ensure that everyone has access to the companionship of an animal.

The day also featured the Classic Car show which had vehicles parked in front of the historic property. Raffles, cake sales, and art and design technology enterprise stands contributed to the charitable cause.

Dr Daryl Brown, headteacher said: “I want to thank everyone for coming along on the day. We once again had remarkable weather and it was fabulous to see our pupils and their parents being able to see the hard work that has gone into this last school year and all the success we have had from it. The event showcased the school's commitment to nurturing young minds and celebrating their accomplishments.

“I also want to make sure that we thank the hard working teachers and employees, including those in administration, working in the kitchen, maintenance and support staff . We appreciate everyone's efforts throughout the year,” he added.

The school will be hosting an open day in the coming months, so do keep an eye on social channels for the events for potential future parents and prospective pupils.
